Is it too forgiving to suggest that this error wasn't an error at all, but a way to get information out from behind a bureaucratic curtain that couldn't be exposed otherwise? People remember what happened to Seth Rich and may have acted accordingly.

Yes, it is too forgiving. It smacks of “Let’s invent a scenario based on no facts, but what we hope is true.”

Nowhere in this comment did I suggest that I hope this is true. It's better to reserve judgment rather than make assumptions. That was what I was saying.

Jeff Rose's avatar

Actually, I assumed you knew exactly what you were doing, which was to “float” the idea that maybe someone executed this as their plan. I don’t see what purpose the invention of this scenario serves. If it isn’t what you “hope to be true”, what motivated it? Look, I’ve got no beef with you but I see how people climbed down the rabbit hole you created. All this takes the focus off the real story which is who was named in the un-redacted pages.

Expand full comment
🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

So the 'real story' is the names that were NOT redacted? That makes no sense. The REAL STORY is the TRUTH THAT WAS COVERED UP.

Sounds to me like you are more concerned with tribalism than putting pedophiles in prison.

Expand full comment
Jeff Rose's avatar

That’s not what I meant. By saying “un-redacted” I was referring to those newly uncovered names that came about because of the process you described. In order to establish the “TRUTH THAT WAS COVERED UP” one has to ferret out the truth that was covered up - in this case it is the names of the perpetrators.

Yes, the cover up is horrible but let’s not lose sight of the underlying crimes. If we do that, Pam Bondi will become the sacrificial lamb and the “leaders” in DC will proclaim “case closed”.

I'm somewhat confused by these statements. My only point was that we cannot automatically assume one way or the other. The Wise Wolf wrote a great article illustrating the situation, one that put an emphasis on the stupidity of those in government for not doing the diligence and covering their tracks. In all likelihood he is correct in that conclusion, but I also know that light can always be found where we least expect it, and felt compelled to make that point in addition to his own. Again, I make no definitive conclusion, I'm only allowing both possibilities to be considered.

Expand full comment
Jeff Rose's avatar

It seems I have stirred up a hornet’s nest. My central point is that spending time debating “how” this happened is tangential to the key issue. I understand The Wise Wolf posited that this massive failure occurred due to stupidity and that you are suggesting that maybe someone made this happen. These are both “how” statements. I believe the more important topic is “Now that we can read the text, what are we learning?”

I admit that I am deeply frustrated that Trump, DOJ, FBI, House committee, Massie, MTG and others have NOT released any names. So, when I hear that we now have 10,000 pages without redaction, I ask “So, what have we learned?” It doesn’t need to be a complete analysis of 10,000 pages - that might take months. Can we not publish it in batches of 10 or 50 pages at a time? Many of us have been loudly saying that the DOJ should immediately release all 300 GB into the public domain. And the Transparency Act called for that to be done.

Expand full comment
Synesis Aletheia's avatar

Those are all fair points, and I now understand your position. You're not wrong in that the "how" is largely irrelevant considering the topic at hand. It doesn't really matter how it happened, only that it has and yet we still don't have the information we want.

This issue is more than enough single reason to completely overthrow the government. They voted on the Transparency Act, mainly through popular demand, and still did the exact opposite of what we want. That implies, at a minimum, complicity on behalf of the government, and most likely points to direct guilt.

In preCovid 2019 the Total death count for the United States was 2, 854,838 roughly 15000 more deaths than 2018.

The total death rate for 2020 was 3,383,729 a difference of over 528,000 deaths. Of those almost 3 and a half million deaths only 55 were attributed to Covid vaccination complications. So, without all the conspiracy bs about deaths being reported as Covid but not actually being Covid, the math clearly shows that there were over half a million more deaths in 2020 over 2019. Only 55 people were reported to have died due to complications from the vaccine. Covid was a real, very dangerous disease. Without the vaccine and quarantine, literally millions would have died . Do not be a blind fool. Vaccines for the flu, childhood diseases, Covid and Hepatitis have improved the mortality rate for people of all ages in this country. Most of the people who have been treated in this unlawful manner have no criminal record. This is no way treat anyone. They are also not offered legal proof or representation. Hi Eva: In the history of our country, these people have NEVER been treated like this. In other words, they were allowed legal counsel if needed - they were not "picked up" due to the color of their skin. It is illegal for authorities not to make sure they are correct - that indeed these people are illegal - and to present those charges to these people in case you - the ICE team - are WRONG. In fact, some of these people are American citizens. If you are interested, a documentary has just come out about this. It was canceled by major media, but we still have access to it. If anyone would like to see it, it may change your mind about this type of round-up, which has never been done in the history of our proud nation.

It's an old line about the fact that the Dems would have done anything to bring Trump down - Joe Biden and the Dems were too busy trying to bring back the great economy again after Trump's first term. Dems had much better things to do for Americans than to even think about the guy who lost the election. So did we.

I’m less interested in outrage than I am in understanding what actually happened here.

When something this basic slips through an institution staffed by professionals who handle sensitive material for a living, there are only a few serious explanations…and none of them are reassuring.

It may be incompetence, but not the cartoonish kind. More likely the slow, structural kind: fragmented responsibility, box-checking compliance, outdated processes, and no one truly owning the outcome.

It may be indifference…a mandate to “release” without a mandate to ensure clarity or accountability. Minimal effort applied to a task no one wanted to touch, with the assumption that confusion would dilute consequences.

Or it may be pressure—legal, political, reputational…producing a release that technically satisfies requirements while avoiding full confrontation with the truth.

What I don’t find persuasive is jumping to either extreme:

that this was a masterful exposure plan, or that it’s meaningless incompetence we should shrug off.

The deeper issue is trust. We live in a world where institutions show extraordinary precision when enforcing rules against ordinary people, and remarkable sloppiness when powerful interests are implicated. Even if the explanation is mundane, the pattern matters.

If we’re seeking truth rather than sensation, the response isn’t hysteria or dismissal…it’s sober scrutiny.

How was this handled?

Who was responsible?

What safeguards failed?

And why do these failures so often run in the same direction?

Truth doesn’t require theatrics. It requires clarity, accountability, and the courage to name institutional decay when we see it.
